Schooling in Nepal

Anita Dhital is 14 years old and in 9th grade. She dreams of becoming a doctor. Salina Hamal is 23 years old and studying to be a nurse. Both girls come from poor families, where education for girls is traditionally viewed as a loss of domestic labour. However, Danida support has helped change this tendency. The number of girls completing 10th grade has almost doubled since 2003. (Only Danish version)

Prabeg – a blind schoolboy

Prabeg is in 9th grade and blind. He lives at a school together with other blind children. Danida support has helped to get more disabled children in school in Nepal, making a big difference in the way society perceives them. For Prabeg, it means, for example, that the dreams he has for the future will be easier to fulfil today than they were just fifteen years ago. (Only Danish version)
